Fantastic Firmino: The Best And The Worst Rated Liverpool Players vs Crystal Palace

In a topsy-turvy match, it was Liverpool who came out winners by 4 goals to 2 over Crystal Palace. The Reds started the scoring with Emre Can getting the first goal of the game.

Liverpool’s problems with their defence continued as Dejan Lovren miss-hit the ball and James McArthur scored from a header. Lovren then made up for the mistake by heading the Reds ahead but the away side conceded another goal as McArthur made it 2-2.

Joel Matip then scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool to make it 3-2 before Roberto Firmino scored the only goal of the second half to wrap up the game. The Reds were great in attack but horrible in defence and we look back at the game to rate the performance of the Liverpool players.

Loris Karius – 6/10

Karius could not really do much to save the goals he conceded but once again, his distribution with the feet was poor. The German did have a couple of decent saves though.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10

In a game that was filled with defensive mistakes, Clyne was the one who didn’t really do much wrong.

Joel Matip – 6/10

The former Schalke man had a tough time against Christian Benteke and he could have given a penalty away. Matip did score the third Liverpool goal but a lot of work has to be done with Lovren in the defence.

Dejan Lovren – 6/10

The Croatian defender had a horrible start to the game as he gifted Palace with a goal but made up with the goal to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead. Overall, he was quite poor in defending.

Alberto Moreno – 7/10

For once the Spaniard was decent in defending and even provided a cross for the Can goal.

Emre Can – 7/10

Emre Can started ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum and opened the scoring in the first half of the game and had a pretty decent outing for the Reds, though he was a little slow at times.

Jordan Henderson – 7/10

The captain was his normal self in the game and although he was great in attack, he could have done more in defence. Henderson also had a delightful assist to Firmino to wrap up the game.

Adam Lallana – 6/10

Adam Lallana didn’t look 100% fit but he did have a couple of good runs in the game. The Englishman was brought off and replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Sadio Mane – 6/10

The former Southampton player didn’t have the greatest of games. His pace was a problem for the Palace defence but he certainly should have scored a goal when the score was 2-2. Mane has to be a tad sharper in attack for the Reds.

Roberto Firmino – 7/10

Firmino worked his socks off in the first half and got his reward with a well-taken goal in the second half. That made the score 4-2 in Liverpool’s favour and killed the game.

Philippe Coutinho – 9/10

The Brazilian was the ticker for Liverpool in attack. He provided two crosses from corners which led to goals and he could have had one for himself had it not been Steve Mandanda in between the Palace sticks.

Substitutes

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10

Wijnaldum did link up well as he replaced Lallana and kept the Liverpool midfield ticking.

Divock Origi – NA

The Belgian was brought on in place of Philippe Coutinho but did not really do much in the game.

Ragnar Klavan – NA

Klavan was brought on in time added on, certainly not enough to make an impact in the game.
