Anfield Update: Liverpool Superstar “Waiting For An Offer From Barcelona”

Liverpool are in danger of losing out on one of their best players this season. There have been reports which have stated that Philippe Coutinho is a major target for Barcelona in the summer and now there are more reports coming in that the Brazilian is interested in moving to the La Liga giants.

Barcelona are the current champions of La Liga and Spanish outlet Sport (cited by teamtalk) suggest that the former Inter Milan man wants to shift to the Camp Nou. The 24-year-old has turned his career around at the Merseyside club and this season, he has been playing on another level.

Coutinho has scored five goals and has provided five assists in the Premier League and has been the reason why the Reds are on top of the Premier League. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Coutinho have been brilliant so far and the Merseyside club would want him to continue performing at this level.

Friendship calling for Coutinho at Barcelona

Many have suggested that Coutinho also wants to link up with fellow Brazilian Neymar at the Catalan club. The pair had played in the youth setup at Vasco Da Gama and even have been making regular appearances for the Brazil national side now.

The Liverpool man did score a wonder goal against Argentina and his celebration with Neymar just added more fuel to the fire. It would not be a surprise seeing Coutinho interested in a move to Barcelona, many South American players do end up signing for La Liga clubs and it is a natural progression for the best to play for the biggest clubs in the world.

Liverpool though have done a lot for Coutinho, he first started to shine under Brendan Rodgers but that was only in bits and bobs. It is under Klopp that the Brazilian has found another gear or even a couple of gears and has transformed his style.

The Reds have to do anything they can to keep him and there is a major challenge for the side. Winning the Premier League would be a tougher achievement for Coutinho than signing for Barcelona and challenging for the La Liga crown.

The Merseyside club also have the charismatic Jurgen Klopp at their side and the German has often gotten the best out of players in the attack. We all remember the fluid movement of the Borussia Dortmund players such as Marco Reus, Shinji Kagawa and Mario Gotze and this is a similar looking Liverpool side, at least in terms of attack.

Klopp has to stay strong and keep Coutinho, if they do keep him for a season or two more, the Reds will win a lot of silverware.
