Liverpool Dealt Positive Transfer Boost As Striker Admits He’s Open To Anfield Move

Iranian forward Sardar Azmoun has been linked once again with a move to Liverpool. The 21-year-old attacker has been a revelation in the UEFA Champions League for FC Rostov where he has scored four goals in the various stages of the competition and is highly rated.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the youngster for a number of months and now the forward has broken his silence about the interest from other clubs. The Liverpool Echo

quoted the rising star as saying:

“Ajax, PSV or Liverpool? I have not received any offers.

“If there are, then I’m going to take my time to look into it, whether it’s come from Liverpool or other clubs.”

Even Azmoun’s agent had spoken about the interest of the clubs for his client and had stated that no club had made a formal move to sign the striker up.

“I read about the interest in Sardar from Liverpool, but I can say that at present there have been no formal proposals from either foreign or Russian clubs,” Mehdi Hagitali said.

“His main goal is to become the best striker in the Russian Premier League.

“But if some proposals come, we will look at them.”

The answer to Liverpool’s problems in attack?

The Reds are in need to bring in another attacker at the club with Philippe Coutinho’s injury and Sadio Mane’s international duties will stretch the squad. Daniel Sturridge hasn’t been able to fire on all cylinders this season and simply relying on Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi might be detrimental to the side’s Premier League aspirations.

Azmoun might not have the greatest stats when it comes to club football but he has scored 16 times in just 22 appearances for his national side. The 21-year-old does have a contract till 2018 but a move to the Premier League or any other big league can tempt him to jump ship.

The Rostov man might not be the biggest name that the Reds have been linked with but Klopp does have a great record when it comes to signings the younth talent. Azmoun would not be the cheapest player that the German manager signs but the Reds have seen the likes of Mane, Joel Matip and now even Loris Karius perform well.

There really isn’t a lot of news coming in from the Liverpool camp regarding transfers but the German has stated that no player will be leaving in the January window. There still is a chance that Klopp will sign a few more players to strengthen the side as the Reds look to pick up their first ever Premier League title.
