Jurgen Klopp Talks About His Plans For January – Admits He’s Looking For Quality Signings

The winter transfer window is tough to work with, even for sides that are close to the top of the table. Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League but even they need to strengthen their side if they are to maintain a push for an unlikely title.

The Reds have been linked with a number of players in the past few months but nothing concrete has come out regarding the transfer of players to the club. Speaking to the club’s official website

, the German manager did state that the Reds are looking for quality signings and will make moves when needed.

“We always have an eye on the market. If there is something that makes sense and is possible [we will act] but there is not only China which could [prevent] a transfer, there’s other clubs. We want players who are ready to develop. If somebody wants to be part of this team they’re very welcome”.

Players such as Franck Kessie, Christian Pulisic and Julian Brandt have been linked with moves to Anfield and it does seem that Klopp has a few players on his mind who could add to the quality at the club.

The Reds are second in the league standings, six points behind Chelsea and will have to deal without Sadio Mane at the club. The Senegal star will be playing in the African Cup of Nations and with Philippe Coutinho also slowly returning from injury, the Merseyside club need all the help they can get.

Good news for Reds fans in terms of injuries

Coutinho was reportedly part of the training sessions and could be fit to face Manchester City. That will come as a sign of relief for the fans of the club, who thought that the Brazilian was going to be out for a long time.

The Reds will also be glad that Daniel Sturridge is now fit and took part in the 1-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby. The Englishman could be the key to Liverpool maintaining their Premier League charge and with Coutinho returning as well, it could work out for the Reds, as long as they do not pick up any major injuries.

There is no doubt that the Merseyside club have to invest in the side and FSG know that quality players will certainly make the side better. The likes of Pulisic, Kessie or even Jonas Hector will help strengthen the side that does not have a regular left-back or even a decent goalkeeper.

Klopp might have already made a few moves and no one can guess what the German is up to. Most of the news of signings came out once the deals were more or less done. The winter window will be interesting, to say the least, especially when Klopp didn’t really spend a lot last time around.
