Friday Morning Liverpool Update – Defender To Return To Anfield, Galatasaray Offer £850,000 For Reds Outcast

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan hasn’t had the best of times under Jurgen Klopp as he looked to get back to full fitness. The 24-year-old defender who had a great time under Brendan Rodgers a few years ago was sent out on loan to Burnley but that has not worked out in his favour.

The Liverpool man has only played five games for the new boys in the Premier League and Sean Dyche plans to send the player back to Liverpool. This would come as a huge blow to the right-back as he was looking to regain his fitness while playing regularly for a Premier League side.

Dyche was quoted as saying that they are going to monitor the situation of the Liverpool defender:

“Football’s changed, it’s not just on the pitch now, there’s lots of different management things you need to look at and monitoring their contractual situation. Whether it’s a loan player, a player under contract or your contract needs extending, there’s a lot more that goes on than just people think. We’ll monitor [Flanagan’s] situation and him with us, there’s always their angle as well, it’s not just mine.”

Hopefully, Flanagan will get a chance to prove his ability in front of Klopp, should he end up going back to Anfield. There was another player whose future at Anfield looks bleak but this could be a great chance for him to get some much-needed playing time.

Turkey calling for Sakho?

Mamadou Sakho certainly has not been in the good books of Klopp after a number of indiscretions. While the French defender has not played a single senior game for Liverpool this season, he is surely set to leave the side in the winter window.

The only question was whether this would be a permanent move or a loan one and all signs, at the moment, point to the latter. And a club in the running to sign him is Galatasaray.

AMK reports that the Turkish giants are willing to spend £850,000 to take Sakho on loan for the rest of the season. This certainly would be a good move for the Frenchman as he would get a chance to regularly play football and also end his nightmare at Liverpool.

It has certainly been a poor 2016 for both players involved but 2017 could open new doors for them. Unfortunately, the doors of Liverpool seem to be closing for Sakho and hopefully the same does not happen for Flanagan.
