Liverpool Surging Ahead In The Race To Sign £25 Million Promes-ing Attacker

Liverpool will be pushing ahead to sign Quincy Promes from Spartak Moscow as soon as possible and beat the host of other clubs targeting the Dutch winger. Promes has been in great form this season and the Mirror claims that Liverpool will have to splash out at least £25million to sign the 25-year-old.

The Dutchman has been one of the best players for the Russian club in recent years and has ended as their top scorer in two of the past three seasons. Not only is he a threat in front of the goal, he is great at providing assists and this season has already bagged six goals and six assists.

The 25-year-old is seen as a possible replacement for Sadio Mane, who has gone to participate in the African Cup of Nations. The Anfield hierarchy have to sign someone quickly and they have scouted Promes for a while now.

The reason why the Reds have to stump up that much as the transfer fee is because Promes had just signed a new long-term deal with the Russian club but £25million isn’t really that high a fee comparing it to some of the other deals that have taken place in the summer.

The Dutch winger certainly is someone who is in the Mane mould and can be a great asset for the club. There are also reports suggesting that Promes has already spoken to another Dutchman at the club, Georginio Wijnaldum and has enquired about life on Merseyside.

A Promesing signing for the Reds

While Promes does have a chequered past as he was kicked out of the Ajax academy as a youngster for indiscipline but his performances on the pitch certainly have gotten better since his move to Moscow.

The 25-year-old could be the signing that continues Liverpool’s assault in the Premier League which is built on an incredible attack. The Reds might not have the best defence but they certainly can get their groove going thanks to their forward line and sit juts five points behind Chelsea, who lead the league.

Liverpool have to work quickly to wrap up these deals as they have a number of games coming in the month of January including the FA Cup and EFL Cup matches. They don’t have the biggest squad in England and injuries to Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings has affected the side a lot.

With Mane also gone for at least a month, the Reds would hope that no other players pick up injuries and if they do sign Promes up, at least they will have the option to rest and rotate with quality out on the wings.
