I Feel Sorry For Jurgen Klopp At Liverpool, Says Bayern Munich Star

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has had a tough time of it lately but the German received backing from one of his ex-players from the Bundesliga. Mats Hummels, who now plays for Bayern Munich, had a great spell under Klopp at Borussia Dortmund and later joined their rivals recently.

The centre-back stated that he still keeps a track on his former manager and even offered support during a tough time for the Premier League side.

Liverpool have only won once in 2017 and have slipped back in the chase for a top four place. They haven’t won in the Premier League since defeating Manchester City 1-0 on New Year’s Eve and were also knocked out of two cups.

Speaking to Goal, the World Cup-winning German was asked if he is keeping an eye on the ongoings at Liverpool:

“I do a lot.

“I watch the games if I have the time – nearly every one.”

The centre-back also added that they were having a poor moment of late but he was supporting the manager and wished him the best.

“Of course it’s a pity for me that he is having such a bad period at the moment. They were eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup.

“I’m supporting him and I wish him success. They are having a hard time at the moment.”

Bayern gunning for more Bundesliga glory

It isn’t as doom as gloom for Hummels’ newest club Bayern Munich. While the Bavarian giants aren’t flying as high as they used to under Pep Guardiola’s, they do seem set for another league title.

“I’ve not been here so I only observed it externally. Nevertheless, it’s true we are less dominant than Bayern have been in the last few years.

“But I think in general across Europe, you see many teams having these problems. There is not a single team playing well all of the time.

“Maybe it’s the case this year that the supposed smaller teams are even stronger and are making it more difficult for the giants.

“The Bundesliga table is strange if you compare it to the pre-season expectations.”

The closest competitors to Carlo Ancelotti’s team is RB Leipzig, a newly promoted team who are just four points behind the Bavarian giants while teams such as Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are still trying to catch up with the league leaders.

Liverpool don’t have it easy in their next game as they face Tottenham at Anfield and Klopp will expect a better performance from his team than in the last game against Hull City.
