Jurgen Klopp Turns His Attention Towards Manchester United Target And Is Ready To Pay £33 milllion

Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez is reportedly being targeted by Liverpool and the Reds are prepared to enter a transfer battle with fierce rivals Manchester United for the signature of the Uruguayan defender. Gimenez was a key cog in Diego Simeone’s set-up at Atletico but has not featured much in the past few weeks.

He is one of the brightest talents in world football and it will surely be difficult to prize him away from there. However, it looks like the two English giants are prepared to lock horns to grab the player in the summer.

According to Don Balon, Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in signing the player in the summer and may go head to head for securing the player’s signature. It looks like the Reds boss is ready to pay the asking price of £33 milllion as he continues to get linked with top class centre-halves week in week out.

It is difficult to interpret who Liverpool have as their top target but if it is so that Gimenez is the player who Klopp is targeting, then there is every reason for the Reds faithful to be happy about as the player is rated very highly in the world of football right now. He is certainly one of the best young defenders in the game and Liverpool will benefit massively by signing the young star.

The Kop Times Verdict

The price may seem a little too big considering that the player has featured just 22 times this season, scoring one goal and an assist. Klopp will be hopeful of negotiating with Atletico and reducing the asking fee.

Since Atletico are believed to be keen on holding on to the defender, it may be difficult for Liverpool to bring the asking price down. However, the negotiation is a long process and there must be a suitable solution for every transfer deal.

Only if Atletico and Liverpool manage to find that solution in this deal, then Anfield would be welcoming a bright prospect and an extremely talented defender. Whether or not if Liverpool are having Gimenez as a top target, he would surely be a quality addition to the Liverpool squad.
