Liverpool Latest – Jurgen Klopp Issues Injury Update On Coutinho, Mane And Henderson

Jurgen Klopp has revealed a massive news about Philippe Coutinho’s injury and has said that the Brazilian is still not 100% fit. However, Klopp feels that the signs are positive and he still is not sure about Coutinho’s involvement this weekend.

Liverpool face Southampton at home this Sunday and the Reds will be heading into the game with full confidence as they are firmly back in the mix to finish in the top-4, after beating Watford in a weekend that saw Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal lose some ground. Finishing 4th might just be enough for Liverpool to make it to next season’s Champions League.

Coutinho was taken off after 13 minutes against Watford and it was rather feared that the player may not return before the end of the season. However, it looks like he has an outside chance of playing against Southampton and Klopp is refusing to rule the possibility out.

Klopp was quoted by Liverpool Echo,

“It was his first time running. He looks a little bit like John Achterberg! We can’t be 100% but it looks rather positive.”

The German also revealed the recovery status of long-term absentees Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Danny Ings but it wasn’t positive.

He said: “Nothing new (about Henderson). It is quite difficult, it is like this.”

About Mane, he said: “Mane is doing really well but no chance (for the rest of the season), he’s around and went really well so far.”

He also revealed about Danny Ings, and said, “Ingsy is doing well, he is training for the first time with the ball, and he is in a good way.”

Liverpool will have to strengthen the squad next season as European football is certain. The depth in the squad has been put to test this season and the fact that we are sweating over the fitness of Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane, and Philippe Coutinho shows that the club needs more quality players in the squad. Of course, any team will suffer without it’s best players. But a good team will always be prepared to face the absence of its star players.

Whether Liverpool prepare themselves for it or not will determine their outcome next season.
