Gareth Bale Instructs Real Madrid To Sign Liverpool Forward Instead Of Kylian Mbappe

Gareth Bale has risked the wrath of Liverpool supporters by reportedly recommending Ben Woodburn, who has caught the attention of many suitors for his performances at Liverpool. The striker has become one of the must-watch players in the Liverpool youth ranks. He has made his Premier League appearance with the start in the 2-1 win over Stoke City. While he has not scored in the 84 minutes of Premier League action, he has certainly caught the attention with his talent. Woodburn has largely featured in the FA Cup games.

Real Madrid are very keen on signing a marquee name in the summer, as James Rodriguez moves towards an exit. They have been having a closer look at Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, who is clearly on the top of this list. However, the forward will cost in excess of £100 million and if the latest reports are to be believed, Monaco have rejected a £103 million bid from Madrid (Telegraph). Manchester United have already had a £72 million offer turned down for the player as well.

Bale, though, wants Real Madrid to focus on a much more modest signing. He has advised Madrid to chase Woodburn, who is Welsh, in order to take advantage of the player’s incredible potential at a much lower figure(Spanish publication Don Balon). Woodburn is not expected to cost in such extravagant numbers, although Liverpool are still expected to demand around £10 million for his signature.

The player has a contract until June 2019, and it raises the pressure on Liverpool to offer him a new deal. Yet, Jurgen Klopp is thought to have had his reservations about the player, who is yet to score in eight games across the Premier League and FA Cup. Woodburn scored in the 2-0 win over Leeds United in the EFL Cup back in November. This goal, however, made him the youngest goalscorer in the club’s history. His talent and appearances for Liverpool have enabled him to receive a call up for the Welsh national team. Most recently, he was crowned as the Liverpool’s Academy Players’ Player of the Season.
