Liverpool Urged To Sign At Least 3 or 4 More Players Following The Arrivals Of Salah And Solanke

Liverpool have been urged to sign at least three or four more players by former Reds’ midfielder Dietmar ‘Didi’ Hamann.

The former German international, who was with us for 7 seasons, has advised current manager Jurgen Klopp to add more new faces to the squad, with a new left-back, a new centre-back and a central midfielder being the need of the hour according to him.

Speaking to Sky Sports HQ, Hamann said:

“There are still areas of the team that need addressing. If you look at the left-back position, I do not think that they should be going into the season with Milner at left-back.

“He has been a tremendous player for (Manchester) City and Liverpool, but he is not a left-back, so I think the left-back position has to be addressed.”

The former Liverpool and Manchester City man then went on to add that a centre-half and a midfielder should also be the club’s priority ahead of the next campaign. He said:

“Maybe a centre back and then I think central midfield, because other teams have been better equipped in central midfield.  So I would like to see another three or four players come into the club.” 

Hamann, however, did praise the transfer of Mohamed Salah. Liverpool thrashed the club-record transfer fee, signing the Egyptian attacker for a reported fee of £36.9million

from AS Roma and Didi was impressed by his capture. But he also claimed that Liverpool have enough firepower at the top and need to strengthen elsewhere. He claimed:

“Salah is a good signing, but at the same time that is probably where Liverpool are strongest – the creative department – with [Sadio] Mane, [Philippe] Coutinho, [Adam] Lallana and [Roberto] Firmino.

“So I think we need at least another three or four players.”

We have been linked with many players in the market so far, but have been able to sign only Salah and Dominic Solanke (from Chelsea). A move for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita seems imminent

, but there needs to be progress made in attempts to sign a new centre-half, after the Virgil van Dijk setback. With this, a new left-sided full-back should also be brought in at the earliest.
