Liverpool’s worst dreams have come true as Philippe Coutinho has reportedly submitted a transfer request. The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to Barcelona and there were suggestions that we were not going to sell him, even with FSG coming out with a statement on the club’s official website.
The statement read,
“We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
“The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.”
But this seems to be in the past, as the former Inter Milan star is now willing to leave us and wants to put on the famous jersey of Barcelona. This certainly comes as a shock to most of us as the 25-year-old had not suggested that he wanted to move and mostly kept quiet.
A request coming so late in the season, with our first game starting on Saturday, seems to have put us all in disarray. FSG have to show their intent that they want the team to be one of the best in the world and have to reject any bid that Barcelona may submit for the mercurial Brazilian.
