Liverpool Dealt Huge Blow In Race To Sign 22-year-old German Midfield Ace

Leon Goretzka is set to be a free agent at the end of this season and that has started a bit of a mad rush to sign the 22-year-old Schalke star. The German has rejected a new deal from the Bundesliga side but according to an Italian outlet, he has already agreed terms with another side, which is bad news for us.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the midfielder as we have been looking to bolster the midfield, especially with Emre Can possibly moving to Italian champions Juventus. Along with us, Manchester United, Chelsea and Juve have been tracking the 22-year-old but one of the biggest Bundesliga sides, Bayern Munich, might have already finalised terms with the German.

Now, Italian outlet Calciomercato claims that the Bavarian giants have already prepared a contract and will hand it over to him in January, when Goretzka can speak with other clubs about a possible move.

While moving to Bayern might have been a no-brainer a few weeks ago, there will be a number of players looking at just what happens to the club after they sacked Carlo Ancelotti.

Bayern aren’t destroying teams in the Bundesliga and are behind Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim after just six games into the season. While it might have been a bit of a knee-jerk reaction to sack the Italian manager, we have seen many clubs in crisis after not getting the right man for the job, especially when the season has already started.

Goretzka moving for free could turn out to be the deal of the summer and with the World Cup coming up, he will be looking to perform at his best at Schalke and get the best move to another side.

It would have been great if we were actually in the running to sign the 22-year-old and while we still have time to work out a deal, saying no to Bayern won’t be easy for Goretzka. Things can turn sour for the Bundesliga side in the upcoming months and that would be our only hope of signing Goretzka.
