On-loan Liverpool Youngster Out For 3 Months After Major Injury

Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo, who is on a season long loan at Championship side Fulham, has picked up an injury that will keep him out for close to three months.

The 20-year-old Englishman landed awkwardly during a 2-1 win for the Cottagers against Queens Park Rangers and suffered a dislocated shoulder, and was taken away straight to the hospital for further tests.

The Liverpool Echo

reported that the player is likely to be out for a while and even Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic was left to rue the bad luck his side have had to deal with despite picking up 5 wins from 6 games in the Championship where Ojo has featured.

“We are not lucky this start of the season. We have one player more in the hospital,” he said. “It’s a dislocation of the shoulder. That’s all we know.”

The report also adds that Liverpool are in constant contact with the Championship side as both sides will work to ensure Ojo returns to fitness and with no niggles in his rehab.

This will come as a bitter blow to Ojo, who has featured in a number of games for the Cottagers. This loan move was helping him not only with game time but also to prove to Jurgen Klopp that he is ready to make it to the first team.

While we do have the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane leading the attack, cover for our wingers is sparse and Ojo did look great when ever he was given a cameo appearance for the first team in the last 2 seasons.

Ojo has already spent a couple of years on loan with Wigan and Wolverhampton Wanderers and this season long deal should give him time to come back fit and prove his ability on the pitch once again.

Hopefully, the youngster’s form will not take a dip and he will push Fulham at least to the play-off spots. The Cottagers are currently in 8th place, just 6 points away from table toppers Cardiff City, who have 23 points from 10 games.
