“Comeback confirmed” Liverpool Fans React To Club’s Tweet Celebrating Luis Suarez Brace In 2012

On this day is the new trend and certainly, no one can deny that. Every now and then, Premier League clubs let their fans witness what happened on a particular date some years back. Following the trend, Liverpool recently tweeted the highlights of their impressive 3-0 win over Roberto Martinez’s Wigan Athletic back in 2012.

Those were the days when Liverpool had a fearsome strike force in Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge coupled with midfield support of Jonjo Shelvey and a not so injury prone Jordan Henderson back then. 17th of Nov was the 12th week of the 2012-13 Premier League season and Liverpool were up against Wigan Athletic, who were coming on the back of a 1-2 defeat at hands of West Brom at home. Liverpool, on the other hand, had played a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge a week before.

Rodgers went with a 4-3-2-1 formation, giving the likes of Suso, Sterling and Suárez the nod to lead the attack. The visitors showed extreme desire in the first half but failed to keep up the momentum in the second period. In as early as the 2nd minute of the second-half, Luis Suarez broke the deadlock with a peach of a finish. The Uruguayan doubled the advantage just 11 minutes after the first.

Courtesy of some extreme hard work by Jonjo Shelvey, Suarez broke Wigan’s defence with ease and finished the ball in absolute style. Eight minutes later it was three. A brilliant interchange between Suarez and Sterling let the latter get a clear shot on goal. Wigan’s stopper Al-Habsi managed to parry the ball, but that, unfortunately, fell into Jose Enrique’s way and bang! It was 3-0.

It was a brilliant performance, to say the least, and have a look at the highlights and enjoy some of the best reactions:
