(Picture) All Smiles At Melwood Training Ground As 23-year Old Liverpool Attacker Is Back

Remember Lazar Markovic? Well, yes he is still in the squad but has been lost somewhere in spending loan tenures and reviving his career with the Reds. There is no sign of the Serbian this season despite the fact that he impressed utterly under Marco Silva at Hull City last season. However, the Serbian is back training with the first-team squad and here are some of his pictures.

As Silva moved to Watford at the beginning of the current season, there were reports claiming that Markovic will soon reunite with the Portuguese in order to revive his career. Nothing eventually turned up and Markovic decided to stay put at Anfield as he wanted to fight for his place under Jurgen Klopp. However, judging by how the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho are performing, it is hard to see Markovic getting into the first-team this season.

Markovic joined Liverpool back in 2014 under Brendan Rodgers, but the Serbian literally failed to adapt himself to the rigours of the Premier League. With the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, Markovic was sent to Fenerbahce on a season-long loan. However, with him sustaining a hamstring injury in the second-half of that season, he returned to Liverpool for rehabilitation.

The following season, he was loaned out to his former club’s arch-rivals Sporting Lisbon, but with first-team opportunities hard to come by, he was recalled and was immediately sent to Hull for the remainder of the season and this is when he actually shined. It looks certain that Markovic and Liverpool, though they are not meant for each other, are somehow still together. The Serbian needs to stay fit at least during the January transfer window so that he can make a switch.

Liverpool, on their part, simply have better options and with every game becoming a must-win fixture, we cannot really afford to lose the thread and hand Markovic a Premier League start. Furthermore, right at this very moment, Liverpool cannot really hope of recouping the amount they paid for him three years back.
