“Happy new year José Mourinho” – Liverpoool Fans Send Twitter To Meltdown As Club Confirm £75m Signing

Liverpool have finally completed the transfer of Virgil van Dijk. The club officially shared the news on their Twitter profile and it is claimed that the deal is worth £75million.

We all know how Liverpool had to backtrack in the summer as Southampton reported us for an illegal approach when we tried to sign Van Dijk. But that led to major complications as the player went on strike and did not feature for the side at the start of the season.

Even when he was eased back into the side, he stated that he would be moving sooner than later and was dropped for a couple of games in recent weeks.

Liverpool have had their problems with defenders over the season and there were reports that Manchester City would be looking to grab the defender from under our noses. However, Van Dijk seems like he wanted to play for Jurgen Klopp and our manager stuck to his number one defensive target over the summer.

As expected, Twitter went ballistic over the news and here are some of the best reactions from the networking site.
