Midfielder In Advanced Talks To Complete Pre-Contract Agreement

Emre Can

Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus are in advanced talks with Liverpool midfielder Emre Can over a potential transfer in the summer transfer window, an exclusive report from Sky Sports has confirmed.

The 23-year-old midfielder sees his current Liverpool contract running out at the end of the season and although Liverpool have time and against stated that they want him to stay, there hasn’t been any notable progress in the speculation.

With the January transfer window already here, the Germany international is now eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, and judging by the look of the things, Can signing for the Italian champions now seems like an imminent deal.

Also, a different report from Sky Sports has also suggested that Can won’t be leaving Anfield in January, although he is believed to have already spoken with Juventus’ hierarchy. The Old Lady, on their part, have been long-term admirers of the midfielder and even pursued him over the summer, only to be denied by Liverpool’s stubbornness of not losing one of their prized stars.

Back in October, Juventus chief executive, Beppe Marotta confirmed that they indeed made an official approach, but Liverpool denied to do any kind of business. While at the same time, he admitted that Juventus won’t be making any bid over the winter window as they know Liverpool won’t entertain any offer.

“We have faith in this team and in these lads. As for Emre Can I don’t think Liverpool will sell him in January.

“We made an offer for him in the summer but the Reds didn’t sell him so I don’t think they’ll change their mind in the middle of the season.”

So as things stand for Liverpool right now, Can is expected to stay at Anfield until the end of the season but it seems his departure is imminent. Manager Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, has also admitted that he won’t pressurise Can to sign a new contract.

“What could I do now? I could say, ‘yes, it is a big problem’ but it isn’t,” Klopp was quoted by Sky Sports.

“He is also allowed to sign a contract [with Liverpool] in May as a player who is still already here. I have no problem with that.

“As long as Emre doesn’t give me one sign his mind is somewhere else I don’t have to talk about this, it is a normal thing in football.”

Things will get interesting from here for sure and let’s see how it all unfolds.
