“Absolute joke this window”, “If you can’t beat em join em” Liverpool fans react to Sturridge’s move to West Brom

Two days after Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup by West Bromwich Albion, the Baggies have now announced the signing of Daniel Sturridge on loan for the rest of the season. The 28-year-old will be eligible to play for West Brom in their FA Cup fifth-round tie at home to Southampton as he has not featured for Liverpool in the competition this season.

The Sky Sports report that the England international was chased by Inter Milan and Newcastle in recent weeks but he chose to join West Brom for family reasons.

Sturridge has not enjoyed a comfortable stay at Anfield since manager Jurgen Klopp took over in 2015. He has only featured 15 times this season and after picking up a thigh injury, the striker has not been in action since playing in the Champions League against Spartak Moscow in December.

With limited game time this season, the former Chelsea man was desperate to leave Anfield in order to resurrect his start-stop career and be considered by Gareth Southgate for the 23-man England squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer.

And now after he has joined the Baggies, Sturridge told their official website:

“This felt like the right fit. I’ve got friends here I’ve played with before, the manager spoke very well, the challenge with the team and the style of play . . . I just felt this was the right fit for me.”

Following his move from Liverpool to West Brom, our fans gave out a mixed response. Here we bring you the best of tweets.
