West Ham are set to offer their star Manuel Lanzini a new deal in an attempt to prevent us from making a move in the summer, according to Evening Standard.

Lanzini is one of the most talented players in the Hammers side. After the East London club initially struggled last season following the departure of Dimitri Payet, it was Lanzini who stood out for the club during the second half of last season when they flirted with relegation, helping them avoid the drop.

The player who currently earns £35,000-a-week will receive a new contract offer once the club’s top-flight status for next season is secured. The playmaker’s current deal at the London Stadium will expire in 2020 and as a result, David Moyes will have to take an action now amidst interest from us.

After selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January, we have yet to find a replacement for the midfield maestro and Lanzini has been touted as one of the candidates. The Hammers are just three points above the relegation zone and it is likely that their situation would be worse off without the services of Lanzini.

An injury spell on the sidelines coincided with the Hammers’ dip in form this season. Lanzini has so far scored 3 goals from 21 appearances this season and it has been reported that we are looking to sign him on a permanent deal due to his ability to hold the ball in the centre of the park.

Lanzini initially joined the Hammers from Al Jazira in 2015 and the deal was made permanent the following summer.

He will surely be tempted by the opportunity to join us as it would likely offer him the opportunity to play in the Champions League.

Do you think Lanzini would be a good addition to our ranks?
