‘Worst wanna be coach ever’ Former Man United hero tears former Liverpool star apart after disappointing ISL season

The Indian Super League has seen a number of former Premier League stars set up shop in the Asian country for their relatively newly formed league. Luis Garcia was one of the former Liverpool stars in the competition and more recently, David James and Dimitar Berbatov were working together for Kerala Blasters this season.

The team might have been one of the favourites for the title but they missed out on the knockout round after a 2-0 loss at the hands of table-toppers Bengaluru. That was enough for the former Manchester United striker to snap as he posted criticism of his coach, James, on Instagram.

Berbatov wasn’t letting James off the hook all that easy as he labelled our former keeper as the ‘worst wanna be coach ever’ and used a number of hashtags following the poor performance of the club owned by Sachin Tendulkar.

A report from the Liverpool Echo also claims that James will part ways with the club after two seasons in charge and even Berbatov might finally end his professional playing career after this disaster in the Indian sub-continent.

The ISL Is Struggling To Become Relevant Again

The league was a big hit when it was established a few years ago and even saw the likes of Alessandro Del Piero play for one of their clubs. The competition was expected to hit new heights as it got the weight of the Indian Football Federation but falling attendances and poor play have really hit the competition big time.

The lack of any real star power, at least in terms of performances on the pitch, has also hit the tournament hard but hopefully, things will get better by the time the competition reaches its climax and we crown another champion in a month’s time.

James always had a tough job to be honest, as Kerala is a football-mad state in the country. Not making it to the knockout round is a poor result. Berbatov, for his part, didn’t seem like someone who would be able to find his scoring boots.

Hitting out at a fellow professional might not be right but Berba and James probably will never cross paths again, and well, this also would mean that James has to work hard on his coaching badges too.
