Former Liverpool favourite with €40million release clause opens door for Anfield return

Suso might have left Liverpool to play for AC Milan but the former Red still wants to play for us sometime in the future.

The 24-year-old has done pretty well since joining the Serie A giants, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists this season but Milan seem set to miss out on the Champions League once again.

Speaking to the Observer’s Fabrizio Romano (h/t The Guardian), the Spaniard also spoke about which players he got to interact with while he was at Anfield.

“In a sense I became a man before I became a footballer. It was very hard with the lifestyle and language.

“But to this day I remember everything. I did not play that much but I got to know Steven Gerrard and be a team-mate of players such as Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Jamie Carragher. I’ll never forget my experience at Liverpool.

“Premier League football is different, I would call it special: I would like to play for Liverpool again some day. I grew up there and it is a big club.”

The Spaniard also revealed that he has a release clause (€40million), which isn’t high compared to some of the other prices paid by the Premier League clubs.

Even though we have not been linked with a move for Suso at the moment, we could do with some more quality in the midfield. With Emre Can’s future still unresolved and with more games coming in next season, someone like Suso could be brilliant for our playing style.

Suso has certainly done well since joining Milan and the regular playing time has helped him become a better player. Whether he leaves Milan for another club in the summer is not a surety but it would be great if we could have the old boy back.

The Spaniard was a bit of a fan favourite when he was at our club and we never really got to see the best of him. Hopefully, we can see him move to Anfield sometime in the future and set the stadium alight.
