Lyon have made the decision over the replacement of Nabil Fekir and a report from France claims that the club will look at Houssem Aouar to play in an attacking role.

SFR Sport (h/t The Express) claims that the young French midfielder is being lined up to take the place of Fekir, who has been linked with a big-money move to Liverpool.

Aouar can play in a number of positions but made most of his appearances last season for Lyon came from the middle of the park.

But now, the 19-year-old will reportedly be presented with the No.10 shirt and also a five-year contract to extend his stay at Lyon.

The French side finished third in the league last season and will be taking part in the Champions League as well. Aouar had also been a target for the Reds but they are looking to complete a deal for Fekir before the start of the World Cup in Russia.

The deal could be worth £60million, according to the Express, and the Frenchman could be the player who could replace Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January.

Good news for Liverpool fans

This will come as great news for the fans as this could speed up the Fekir transfer and bring him one step closer to Anfield.

While Aouar is a decent player, Fekir seems to be the complete package at the moment. The sooner we complete a deal for the French attacker, the better it will be.

We must not let the transfer hang about as that will only lead to more rumours and hopefully, Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the transfer team can wrap up the deal and give us another surprise, like the Fabinho one, before the start of the World Cup.
