Liverpool complete third signing of summer for the player they have been in contact since March

Liverpool have completed the signing of Isaac Christie-Davies after he ran down his contract at Chelsea, reports the Mirror.

Upon signing for the Reds, Christie-Davies, 20, also joined Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata’s Common Goal charity.

He said: “I’m really excited about my move to Liverpool, it’s a real honour to sign for such a big club.

“I hope to be the very best player I can be and play the very best football I can for the club and for the fans.”

The young midfielder joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of 10 and rose through their ranks. He played a crucial part in the Blues sides that won the FA Youth Cup and Uefa Youth League in recent years.

But Christie-Davies did not feature much in the previous campaign and was eventually released. After he was released by Chelsea, the 20-year-old was given a trial at Anfield in March and has now been snapped up on a free transfer after impressing the scouts at Kirkby Academy, reports the Mirror.

Christie-Davies becomes Liverpool’s third summer signing, joining the likes of Fabinho and Naby Keita. He also follows the footsteps of his former Chelsea teammate Dominic Solanke, who made the same move last year.

Having spent a decade with the Blues, Liverpool have got a player with a top pedigree and potential. Christie-Davies is a box-to-box midfielder by trade with an eye for scoring goals. He is creative, hard-working and has scored a truckload of goals at youth team levels.

An England youth international, Christie-Davies has all the raw tools to go on to become a top midfielder. He needs a manager who can nurture his talent and bring the best out of him. In that case, Jurgen Klopp appears to be the ideal man to foster his development. However, the 20-year-old is one for the future and will head straight into the Liverpool

Chelsea have lost another talent from their academy but it is Liverpool’s gain at the end of the day.
