Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool’s targets and plans for pre-season as players report to Melwood

Jurgen Klopp has laid down the plans for the Liverpool players as pre-season begins ahead of another season. The Reds were once again defeated in a final, this time by Real Madrid in the Champions League and the boss was quoted by the Mirror

as saying,

“That’s the plan. We are always ambitious, we are still ambitious.”

Klopp added that despite doing well in the past two years, the team can still improve and build on their achievements under the German so far.

“We know all the good things, we know all the not-so-good things. Life is always [about] learning from your experiences, I hope we can show that.”

Despite a number of our players taking part in the World Cup, new boys Fabinho and Naby Keita arrived to take part in training and that is seen as a boost by Klopp who wants the pair to learn about our playing style.

“It’s even better they can start from the first day with the training because they have to learn the most, they have to adapt to our style of play.”

Our first game of pre-season is against Chester on Saturday and Klopp knows the value of each game, as a fit and ready squad can start the Premier League campaign well in August.

“We have nine games until the season starts and we will need them all.”

It will be interesting to see just how much game time our players get, especially with the new signings already in the team.

The first priority of the team would be to get into shape ahead of the pre-season games and then slowly build up their stamina and understand their roles for the upcoming campaign.

Keita and Fabinho are expected to be starters for us in the coming months but it would be a major surprise if they both start right the first game of the Premier League season.

Klopp knows how to bed players in like we have seen with Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk in recent times and that can only mean good news for Keita and Fabinho as well.
