Liverpool are close to signing Xherdan Shaqiri

, as James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo tweeted that the Swiss star had cut short his holiday to have a medical at Melwood.

Shaqiri had been linked with a move away from the relegated Stoke City but no deal was conducted since the player was away with the national side at the World Cup.
