Done: Liverpool complete loan deal with Derby County to send attacker to the Championship

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has moved to Championship club Derby County on a season-long loan deal.

Wilson, 21, recently signed a new long-term contract at Anfield but he has been shipped out again by Jurgen Klopp to continue his development elsewhere.

The Welshman spent the second half of last campaign on loan at Hull City, where he scored seven goals and supplied four assists in just 14 appearances. Wilson is highly-rated at Anfield and is tipped for a bright future; however, Klopp is aware of the player’s talent and is refusing to sell. Instead, a one-year loan deal seems to be ideal.

The Liverpool ECHO had claimed that the 21-year-old attacker was wanted by as many as 12 Championship clubs, including Swansea City, Norwich City and Stoke City. But Frank Lampard’s Derby have successfully beaten them all to secure a deal.

Wilson scored twice in the 7-0 friendly win at Chester City but was left out of last weekend’s goalless draw at Bury by Klopp.

Considering the competition for places in Liverpool’s first-team, allowing Wilson to leave on loan again is the perfect move. Under Lampard, who prepares for his first season in management, the young winger can showcase his talent at Pride Park and help the club in their bid for promotion next season.
