“I see myself staying at Liverpool” – Reds star verbally commits his future at Anfield

Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge has revealed that he wants to stay at Anfield this season and play regularly for the Reds, as quoted by the Express.

The English striker has been linked with a move away from the club and has a price tag of £15million but his latest comments seem to suggest he wants to prove himself at the club.

“I see myself staying at Liverpool, hopefully being part of the team week in, week out.

“Pre-season is going well, so for me it’s keeping my head down and building on that. I’m excited about the season ahead and it feels great to be back.”

The former Chelsea and Manchester City striker also added that he is looking forward to the US tour where we will face a number of top sides such as Manchester City and that he cannot wait for the season to begin.

Sturridge could barely get a chance in the Liverpool team last season as Roberto Firmino was preferred as our main striker.

The Englishman was then loaned to West Bromwich Albion but he could not score a goal during his spell in the second half of the season.

The Englishman has had his problems with injuries, so keeping him in the side is a bit of a risk. However, a fit Sturridge is still top-class and he could provide some respite to Firmino from playing too many games.

Liverpool do have a number of backup strikers such as Divock Origi, Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke, so if we were to sell any one of them, it would probably be Sturridge, simply because he has an injury record and is the oldest of the lot.

Sturridge could have been great for Liverpool but his injuries have affected not only his time on the pitch but his ability too.
