Liverpool have accepted a £2million bid for Ragnar Klavan from Italian club Cagliari, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report adds that the Estonian has been permitted to travel to Italy and complete his medical. The Serie A transfer window closes today and personal terms have to be discussed between the club and the player.

Klavan had spoken to Jurgen Klopp about wanting regular time on the pitch and our manager has decided to let the player leave, according to the report.

The Liverpool Echo further adds that the German is confident about the options at the back as Joe Gomez started alongside Virgil van Dijk in our 4-0 win over West Ham.

The report claims that youngster Nathaniel Phillips has impressed Klopp in the summer while Joel Matip has returned to full training. Dejan Lovren is also on the road to recovery, according to the report.

The Estonian has made 53 appearances for us since joining us from Augsburg in 2016 and has entered the final year of his contract, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Klavan’s desire to play more football would be tough at Liverpool given the talent we already have in the side.

Virgil van Dijk is our first-choice at the back and either Gomez or Lovren should partner him in the heart of the defence.

Klavan could have done a job for us in some of the cup games, however, it seems the Estonian will be taking on new challenges in another country.
