Divock Origi’s chances of joining Borussia Dortmund have come to an end, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report claims that Liverpool have ended negotiations with the Bundesliga side who were not willing to spend £27million for the 23-year-old.

The report adds that Dortmund wanted to sign Origi on a loan deal but Liverpool wanted the Belgian to leave permanently.

Jurgen Klopp had planned to keep hold of Dominic Solanke as the backup for Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge according to the report. But with the latest development, the German might have to reassess his plans for the English striker.

The report adds that a decent offer for the former Chelsea striker could see him leave on loan. Solanke and Origi have been unable to make it to the bench in our opening fixtures of the season.

Origi’s failure to seal a move away can be good news for the striker as he could show Klopp his ability in training. The Belgian could play a few cup games and would start should Sturridge and Firmino pick up injuries.

The report adds that Wolverhampton Wanderers were willing to pay £22million plus add-ons for the 23-year-old but the Belgian did not want to join the newly promoted side.

Solanke had been linked with a move to Rangers in recent weeks and if Origi stays, the Englishman might have to move away for regular football this season.
