Liverpool’s plans to host additional sporting events at Anfield rejected by council

Liverpool’s plans to hold music concerts and other sporting events at Anfield have hit a snag, according to a report from Liverpool Echo.

A meeting at the town hall chamber led to a rejection of the move by the council’s planning committee. The report

added that the committee also deferred a proposal to host 10 concerts at the stadium.

The report further added that local councillors believed the additional events would disrupt lives of the nearby residents with “noise, parking and anti-social behaviour issues”. The residents already have to deal with the football season.

A resident was quoted by Liverpool Echo as claiming that the offseason is the only time of the year where they have respite.

“End of May, mid August is the only respite we have, I don’t want that taken away from us.”

The report added that a representative from the club tried to reassure residents that they were aware of concerns and are working to ensure there was little impact in the daily lives of those living nearby.

However, that was not enough to convince the committee, even though Cllr Dave Cummings claimed he was supportive of the plans.

There will be future discussions about this issue and hopefully, it will go in the favour of our club.
