“I would never say never” – Liverpool star open to joining Scottish giants

James Milner

James Milner hasn’t ruled out a move to Scotland and will be watching the Old Firm derby between Rangers and Celtic when the pair meet for the first time this season on Sunday.

The Liverpool midfielder was asked if he would consider a move to Celtic or Rangers and the Herald quoted him as saying:

“I would never say never. You never know what is going to happen.”

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa man added that the upcoming Old Firm derby will be special because of the two men in charge.

“They are always good games to watch anyway, but there is a bit of added spice this time with the two managers (Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard) going up against each other and their history,”

The two former Liverpool men must aim to pick up a win on Sunday and Milner further added that the Scottish game is not as bad as some people think.

“I don’t know if Scottish football gets a bad rap because of the England Scotland banter thing.”

Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk had spent time in the Scottish league and Milner was quick to add that there are a number of quality players in the country.

“I don’t have experience of Scottish football myself, but I have seen the players who have come down from Scotland over the years and know players who are playing in Scotland now. I think you can see how many good players there are.”

It will certainly be an interesting game when the two giants face each other with two former Liverpool men looking to get all of three points.
