Liverpool star could return to boyhood club if they gain promotion from Championship

Liverpool star James Milner could return to Leeds United should the club achieve promotion, according to the Daily Star (h/t Mirror).

The 32-year-old has been in great form for the Reds this season but the report claims the Whites are interested in signing the Englishman should they reach the Premier League.

Leeds are flying in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa and are leading the table at the moment. Milner started his career at Elland Road before stints at Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

The midfielder has been one of the best players for us this season and his experience is great for some of the youngsters in the side.

Although we should plan for a future without Milner since he is nearing the twilight of his career, the Englishman has proven to be a quality member of the team and is undroppable at the moment.

The former Leeds man has scored a couple of goals for us in this campaign and has started seven games in all competitions.

Had the 32-year-old struggled to perform for us, selling him would have been the right call to make. However, the Englishman has been brilliant and has even played as a left-back for the Reds.

Milner always gives his best on the pitch and we should try to hold onto him for as long as possible, even if Leeds come calling.
