“Bringing one player in would change everything?” – Jurgen Klopp expresses displeasure at suggestions to improve midfield

Jurgen Klopp wasn’t accepting that his midfield needs a bit of changing after the loss against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds lost all their away group games in the Champions League, the first time they had done this, as they started with a trio of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Klopp spent huge on Fabinho and Naby Keita in the summer, but neither player has received numerous consecutive starts.

The German was in fighting mood after the loss and was quoted by the Telegraph saying:

“It was not a brilliant game but it was a big fight and we lost. And after that you ask me about being creative in midfield?

“To be honest, for me it is quite strange. When everything is brilliant and we score goals you always ask about defending and how can we fix that?

“We fixed that, kind of, and it always happens that the first step is it costs you a bit of fluency and creativity. That is a completely normal thing. If someone would think about it they would see it is clear, it is logical.

“Now, when we fix that, I can’t say in the first moment to the boys, ‘that’s not enough offensively’. That would be crazy. We still have to develop, that’s what we do. Bringing one player in would change everything? That is bulls*** and you know that.”

Liverpool don’t have a lot of time to dwell on the PSG loss as they face Everton in a huge Merseyside derby on Sunday.

The Reds should start as favourites but they will have have to make one change in the team with Henderson missing out.

The Englishman picked up a red card in our win over Watford last week, and hopefully, we get the right balance in the middle of the park and pick up the three points against the Toffees.
