“Has made all the difference” – Gary Neville hails this summer signing for Liverpool

Gary Neville has hailed the impact of Alisson at Liverpool this season. The Brazilian signed from AS Roma for a then world-record fee of £65million

for a goalkeeper (h/t Metro) and has helped us to the top of the Premier League.

The 26-year-old has only conceded six goals from 16 Premier League ties, and he is the first Liverpool player to avoid defeat after their first 16 Premier League games.

The former Manchester United defender believes Alisson has had a greater impact for the Reds when compared to Virgil van Dijk. The Englishman was speaking on Monday Night Football and claimed the Brazilian has made us into title contenders (h/t Metro

):

“Alisson has saved Liverpool on numerous occasion this season; earned them big points.

“Great goalkeepers win you point after point after point after point. You don’t always notice it. So is Van Dijk the biggest impact on that team? No it’s not.”

The Englishman brought out some stats about the keeper and even spoke about our defence being solid.

“Look at the stats: 86 per cent save ratio – the highest in the league. Last season it was 64 per cent (ranked 19th).

“Yes, the two young lads alongside Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are fantastic – and I love watching them play.

“But for me it’s the goalkeeper [Alisson] who has made all the difference and makes them genuine contenders.”

The Brazilian has been excellent since joining, and he has been an excellent purchase. His price point may have been high at the start of the season, but if he keeps putting up the performances, we could have something to celebrate at the end of the season.
