Roberto Firmino overtakes former Red and creates record in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Arsenal

Roberto Firmino and Andy Robertson

Liverpool were brilliant in their 5-1 win over Arsenal and the star of the show was Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian scored a hat-trick in the win but also created a record, according to the Liverpool Echo

. The former Hoffenheim man has a knack for scoring against the Gunners, and his three goals made him the highest scoring Brazilian in the Premier League.

A former Red held the record prior to Firmino scoring but Philippe Coutinho left the Reds to join Barcelona.

Firmino scored the first after a mix-up in the Arsenal defence and tied Coutinho’s record, but his tenacity and perseverance should be highlighted as he kept on running.

The second goal, his 42nd in the Premier League (h/t Liverpool Echo) was brilliant as he waltzed through the Arsenal defence and slotted past Bernd Leno.

Liverpool players celebrate against Arsenal

He wasn’t done yet as Mohamed Salah gave him the ball to score his hat-trick and our fifth in the second half.

It was great seeing Firmino bag a few goals as he hasn’t scored regularly for us this season. That could be partly due to playing in a deeper position than normal and Mohamed Salah leading the line, but no one can question his commitment to the team.

The Brazilian is one of the most hardworking players in the team, and he was rewarded against the Gunners.

Liverpool have a long way to go in the season, and it would be amazing if Firmino keeps scoring consistently for us.
