“Hopefully, we can keep him” – Championship manager wants to keep hold of Liverpool starlet until the end of the season

Derby County manager Frank Lampard wants to keep hold of Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson until the end of the season.

The former Chelsea midfielder was speaking to BT Sport (h/t Express) and does not want the Reds to activate a return clause in the Welsh attacker’s contract.

“I think Liverpool are doing alright. Hopefully they can keep going and we can keep Harry. He can go back next summer and everyone’s happy.”

Wilson has scored some breathtaking goals during his spell with the Rams. He even scored a wonderful free-kick against Manchester United to knock them out of the Carabao Cup and has 10 goals in all competitions this season.

Lampard was pleased with the performances of the 21-year-old and claimed the Liverpool youngster has the “complete game”.

The Englishman further claimed that he wants to send Wilson as a better player for Liverpool:

“He wants to do really well. All I want to do is send him back to Liverpool a better player. That’s all on Harry as he’s working so hard to do that.”

The Reds were busy in the winter window as they sold Dominic Solanke to Bournemouth and sent Nathaniel Clyne out on loan until the end of the season.

Wilson has possibly been our best youngster away on loan this season, and it seems this is one loan deal that has worked out for all parties.

The Rams have a chance of gaining promotion to the Premier League next season and Wilson will have a huge role to play if that is to take place.
