German expert claims this 22-year-old Liverpool target could cost €100m

Liverpool would have to break their transfer record if they want to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein (h/t Express).

The Leipzig forward has been linked with the Reds over a summer move and has 18 months left on his current deal (h/t Express

Werner is just 22 and represented the country at the World Cup. The forward has been in great form this season scoring 13 goals from 22 games.

Leipzig want the forward to commit to a new deal, however, Werner is yet to confirm his future is with the Bundesliga side (h/t Express).

The Express claims that Werner could be available for a cut-price in the summer, however, Honigstein wasn’t sure about the striker’s future while speaking to ESPN (h/t Express

“I’m not sure I’ve got the answer. I think he’s still most likely to stay at Leipzig at this point.

“I think Bayern and Liverpool are keeping him on the stove, keeping him warm, to see if they want to make a big move.”

The expert claimed that Leipzig had told Werner to make a decision quickly and stated the player could be worth a lot:

“It seems as if things are going on but there’s perhaps not quite that demand for a player who is going to command almost €100m in fees.”

Honigstein ended by claiming that Werner could still stay at Leipzig, but it will be interesting to see how things develop with the forward.

Liverpool are a little light when it comes to senior forwards with the club selling Dominic Solanke in the winter window.

Divock Origi hasn’t looked great up top while Daniel Sturridge is another player that has had an average season so far.
