Unexpected Premier League side leading the race to sign 19-year-old Liverpool target

Liverpool face competition from Wolverhampton Wanderers for Benfica rising star Joao Felix, according to the Mirror.

The youngster is expected to become one of the best in the world, with the report adding that Wolves are currently leading the race to sign him, should Benfica decide to sell the player.

The report claims that the club’s links with super-agent Jorge Mendes could help them land the youngster. There is a link between Wolves and Benfica, and that the Premier League new boys have the first refusal on any players that Mendes has control over.

Wolves did pull a rabbit out of the hat when they signed Ruben Neves while they were playing in the Championship. The midfielder helped them gain promotion, and he has been one of the stars under Nuno Espirito Santo this season as well.

Liverpool could do with more attacking options and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for the 19-year-old in the summer.
