Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes the criticism of the Reds from some corners is harsh as Jurgen Klopp’s men have gone toe to toe with defending champions Manchester City.
The Reds and City are tied on the same number of points, but Pep Guardiola’s men are ahead on goal difference, having played a game more.
Carragher was speaking during a Liverpool legends training session ahead of a charity match on 23rd March and believed the season from the Liverpool viewpoint has been unbelievable so far (h/t Independent)
“The criticism from outside is a little bit harsh on the team and the manager. What they’ve done this season is unbelievable.
“To actually be up there with City, a team who had 100 points last season and who will be close to that again this term, is remarkable.”
The former defender didn’t believe the talk about “nerves” was fair to the Reds, and they still are in with a shout of winning the title.
Carra added that the win over Bournemouth calmed the talks about nerves and would help the team in the coming games.
The former number 23 said that the draws against Leicester and West Ham could have been worse and they should be taken as points gained.
