Liverpool FC transfer news: Alberto Moreno on the short-list for Barcelona in summer

Sport (h/t Mirror) claims that Barcelona are interested in signing Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno.

The 26-year-old Spaniard has struggled for starts this season thanks to the emergence of Andy Robertson and is a free agent at the end of the campaign.

The Spaniard has just five games to his name this season with no goals and assists. James Milner has also played in that position over the past two years.

Moreno isn’t the only the only defender on their wish-list with Nacho Monreal of Arsenal also a target. The report adds that Barcelona are looking at competition for Jordi Alba and are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid defender Luis.

Barcelona could offer a two-year deal to the cover for Alba as they see Juan Miranda as the long-term left-back but want to ease him into the first-team, according to the report.

Free transfer choice for Barcelona

The report claims that all three players are available on free transfers and it will be interesting to see if Moreno is the player picked by the Catalans.

The former Sevilla man was great for the team before he joined Liverpool, and despite a few strong showings, his consistency and defensive ability have been under scrutiny at Anfield.

Moreno would not get many games next season too if he was offered a new deal. Robertson is possibly the best left-back in the Premier League and seems set to get even better in the coming years.
