“Very versatile”, “Calm presence in the back” – Some Liverpool fans back interest in 25-year-old Spanish defender

Diego Llorente

Liverpool FC transfer news: Fans react to links with Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente

Liverpool are being linked with Diego Llorente of Real Sociedad, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa (h/t Guardian).

The 25-year-old has been impressive for the La Liga side and the report claims the club is looking at €30m

for the centre-back.

Sociedad lie ninth in La Liga and Llorente has played 17 games in all competitions for them this season.

Liverpool have quality defenders in Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, but the likes of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have had their issues with injuries.

Injury problems hit Liverpool

The Reds have been a little unlucky when it comes to injuries in the back line with Joe Gomez missing a large chunk of this season after an excellent start.

Lovren has been out for close to two months while Matip also faced some time out with a broken collarbone.

The Reds could do with a centre-back coming in, and it will be interesting to see what our plan of action is in the summer.

Liverpool spent huge in the previous summer window to strengthen the side, and it has worked well as we are challenging for the Premier League crown.

Llorente seems to be a decent defender and could do a job for us in place of our first-choice defenders.

Some Liverpool fans believed Llorente would be a decent option for the Reds, and here are their reactions to the link.
