Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders has claimed that players such as Ruben Neves interest the club.
Neves has been one of the stars for Wolverhampton Wanderers this season and surprised many when he joined them in the Championship.
The 22-year-old has made 29 appearances in the Premier League with three goals and two assists.
The Metro claims that the Portuguese midfielder was linked with a move to Anfield in the summer, but Neves decided to remain with Wolves.
Lijnders worked with Neves during his time at FC Porto and claimed that he knew him very well. The Liverpool assistant was speaking to O Jogo and said (h/t Metro):
“I know him very well, his ambition, his passion for the game, his professionalism… I know what he gives to the team and this type of players always interest us.”
The Metro adds that Liverpool won’t be the only ones keeping an eye on the youngster with Manchester United and City also monitoring his progress.
The 22-year-old has proved to be a quality addition to Nuno Espirito Santos’ side and could do a great job for Liverpool.
However, the Reds are stacked with several options in the midfield. Naby Keita is yet to show his best while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seems set to make a return to the first-team soon.
Fabinho has been an excellent addition to the midfield while we saw the best of Jordan Henderson in the 3-1 win over Southampton on Friday.
