Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that our transfer activity in the summer depends on the futures of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge
.The pair have not started many games this season as Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are the first-choice attackers.
The former Red further claimed we would be signing a big name while speaking to BonusCodeBets.co.uk (h/t Express):
“The summer transfer window for Liverpool will depend on Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi staying.”
The Englishman highlighted that we have a couple stars who have returned from injury and backed the manager regarding his transfer activities:
“When you look at Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returning to the team, they won’t need to bring anyone in.
“It won’t surprise me if Liverpool don’t make a major signing.
“The fans and club trust in what Klopp is doing, so there won’t be any disappointment if he doesn’t sign anyone.”
Daniel Sturridge is out of a contract in the summer and it will be interesting to see what we plan to do in the summer.
Origi has been used a lot more in the second half of the campaign and has racked up 16 appearances for the Reds so far.
Our front three requires some cover but any signing coming in would probably have to be happy with a place on the bench.
The Ox and Gomez returning to the side is great news and they will have a huge role to play in the upcoming season.
Barnes’ comments of not making a big name signing make sense. There aren’t many players available who could easily slot into the starting XI.
We could do with more squad depth in the summer with some cover for our full-backs.
