Jurgen Klopp confirms double injury blow for Liverpool ahead of Barcelona semi-final

Latest Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah to miss Champions League semi-final against Barcelona

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Mohamed Salah would not face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

The Egyptian suffered a head injury in the win over Newcastle United and had to be replaced by Divock Origi.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference at Anfield, the German added that Roberto Firmino is also out of the tie (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):

“Both are not available for tomorrow.

“It’s a concussion [for Salah], so that means he would not even be allowed to play. That’s it, that’s all.”

The German added that Salah felt good, but he won’t be allowed to play due to medical reasons

“He feels OK, but it is not good enough from a medical point of view, that’s all. He is desperate and everything, but we cannot do it. That’s it.”

Liverpool have it all to do in the second leg

Firmino and Salah missing will severely hamper our attacking output.

Divock Origi scored the winner against Newcastle United, and it will be interesting to see what kind of line-up Klopp puts out on Tuesday.

The German was positive ahead of the game and claimed that the Reds should go out to win the tie. However, he wasn’t suggesting that we would blow Barcelona away and overturn the 3-0 deficit in the first 10 minutes (h/t LiverpoolFC.com)

Liverpool should have more belief after their late win over Newcastle, and there have been some special European games held at Anfield in recent years.

The Reds could do some damage to Barcelona, but we have to be at our best on Tuesday.
