Marc Overmars has confirmed that Ajax attacker Hakim Ziyech will leave the Dutch giants in the summer.
The 26-year-old Moroccan has been instrumental in their Eredivisie title win and helped them to the Champions League semi-finals this season.
Ziyech scored 19 times and provided 16 assists in the league and Champions League for the Dutch giants this season, and the Mirror claims that Liverpool have watched the 26-year-old.
Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Arsenal are the other clubs to have seen Ziyech, according to the report, and the Ajax sporting director claimed the Moroccan would leave if a big club came (h/t Mirror):
“He leaves when a top club comes. He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League. Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim [that we would] agree to a good transfer.”
The versatile Moroccan can play anywhere in the attack or as a midfielder, and the report claims that Ziyech would be sold for a paltry £25million due to a release clause in his contract.
That certainly makes him an enticing option in the summer, and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for the 26-year-old.
The Ajax star can provide cover for our wingers while giving us a creative element in the midfield.
The Reds have a wonderful first-team but we could do with a game-changer coming off the bench in some of the tougher fixtures.
