Latest Liverpool transfer news: Lyon president confirms Nabil Fekir wants to leave in the summer

Lyon could sell Nabil Fekir in the summer as Liverpool’s interest has been revived, according to reports from France (h/t Mirror).

The French attacker was close to signing for Liverpool a year ago, but the deal collapsed and Fekir remained with Lyon (h/t Mirror).

The 25-year-old won the World Cup in the previous summer, but Lyon’s president confirmed that the attacker wants to leave the Ligue 1 side. The Reds backed out of a £53m

Fekir racked up 12 goals and 9 assists in all competitions last season, but Jean-Michel Aulas told Lyon’s website that the attacker prefers a move away (h/t Mirror):

“His preference is towards a departure.”

The president added that Lyon haven’t received any offers for Fekir:

“We are open to discussions. We have no news. We are waiting for proposals in the coming days but for the moment we do not have any. “

Lyon expect big bucks from Fekir deal

The report adds that Lyon want £45m for Fekir, and would be keen to have an auction for his services. However, the attacking midfielder has just 12 months left on his current deal and has also been linked with Serie A champions Juventus.

Liverpool did extremely well without Fekir last season but could do with more attacking options. The Frenchman can play in several positions, and we should try to nab him on the cheap.

Fekir has just one year left on his current deal, and that could be used to our advantage when negotiating with Lyon.
