The Evening Standard
reports that Liverpool have secured additional tickets for the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea. The Reds were handed just 5,257 tickets for the final on 14th August, which takes place in Istanbul.
However, there has been strong interest from fans since sales started on Tuesday, and the Reds have asked UEFA for additional tickets, according to the report
.The report adds that Liverpool have been handed a minor supplementary allocation for the final at the Vodafone Park.
The Reds have decided to sell these additional tickets to fans who missed out on the ballot for the Champions League final against Tottenham.
Liverpool won that tie 2-0, and there were similar problems regarding a lack of tickets for the final in Madrid.
The football body needs to ensure that more tickets are available for fans after the fiasco at the Europa League final too.
Of course, there will always be a massive demand for tickets now, given our resurgence under Jurgen Klopp. UEFA can ensure that a majority of seats can be handed out to fans of the clubs involved in the finals.
The Reds have a chance of lifting a trophy just a week into the season, and it will be interesting to see how we do against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.
