Forbes (h/t Mirror) claims that Liverpool are close to signing a kit deal with Nike, which could be the biggest in the Premier League.
The Reds are contracted with New Balance currently but that runs out at the end of the season.
The Mirror adds that the current deal is worth £45million per season for Liverpool but Nike’s offer could blow away the £75m that Adidas pay Manchester United.
New Balance’s deal is only the fourth-best in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester City also earning more from their kit deals.
Liverpool have been associated with Warrior Sports and New Balance since 2012, with Adidas being the previous kit manufacturers, but Nike could take over from the 2020-21 season.
Liverpool’s growth under Jurgen Klopp would have played a role if we land this deal from Nike. The Reds are the champions of Europe and came close to winning the Premier League last season.
Klopp has made us one of the biggest teams in the world again, and the German has improved the side with every passing season.
Liverpool’s kits have been great sellers too, with the report adding that the 2017-18 jersey was the biggest seller in the club’s history but that changed when the 2018-19 kit came out.
It will be interesting to see how much we can actually get from the new deal and we seem set for more success on the pitch.
