Turkish Football (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that the Reds scouted Ugurcan Cakir during the weekend.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with Liverpool for a while and the report adds that our scouts watched him in action against Fenerbahce.
Cakir has been one of the rising keepers in the Turkish league in recent years and recently played for the national side too. The Turk hasn’t kept a clean sheet this season for Trabzonspor, and it is interesting to see him being linked with the Reds once again.
The Reds have had their issues with keepers this season as Alisson is still out with a calf injury.
Liverpool were expected to sign Andy Lonergan after the pre-season games but moved for Adrian once Simon Mignolet left.
Adrian has done a good job since replacing the injured Alisson, and we could do with another quality keeper coming into the team.
Cakir hasn’t played in one of the big leagues and we should keep tabs on his performances in the coming weeks.
The Reds have youngsters such as Caiomhin Kelleher in their ranks but it would be risky to push him into the first-team at the moment.
Alisson is possibly the best keeper in the world and replacing him won’t be easy, and we have seen Adrian have issues while playing the ball with his feet.
